We tasted preship samples from Falcon Coffee Importers this summer, and we're floored by how vibrant their natural Ethiopian coffees were, particularly one lot from farmer Basha Bekele. Once it arrived and landed tasting just as vibrant, we brought it in to Kuma HQ and got to roasting. 

Basha is a third generation farmer, he inherited the farm from his grandfather and got right to modernizing, gleaning all the coffee growing information he could find to improve growing practices and increase the cup score of his crop to high end specialty grade. He grows 100% 74158 variety coffee plants on his 8 hectare farm, and he and his family selectively hand pick the entire crop. His coffee plants grow under dense shade interplanted with fruits. 

Intensely strawberry like freeze dried fruit, this is a dazzling coffee. Softer notes of Mango hit next all enveloped in a brown sugar sweetness. This is a single farmer, single variety lot out of a micro region of Sidama. There was a day not so long ago that this kind of specificity out of Ethiopia would be unthinkable. Enjoy this day
